MSc
Police Leadership and Management
Programme Outline
In
an era in which policing is becoming developed
to local levels, officers and civilian employees
face increased responsibilities for managing
staff and resources, devising and implementing
policing plans, accounting for budgets,
and a host of administrative duties. These
tasks require skills and knowledge that
have not been traditional components of
police training programmes. Equally, most
other management courses focus on issues
relevant to the private sector and do not
take into account the public service dimensions
that are central to policing. This course
will bridge the gap between the principles
and requirements of policing as a public
service and the techniques and principles
of contemporary management.
